Theres a lot of savagery and death in it, and thats to be expected because it depicts war realistically and unsentimentally.

An odd thing about this book is that it depicts all the parallel events twice, alternating points of view surrounded by Dodd and a handful of his French counter cut offs, a group of boyhood friends from Nantes following their brother Sgt. Godinot. Theyre really just boys yet--decent ample kids, appealing characters, you really tonicity for them. And of course Dodd has postal recruit against them personally, its just that he cuts them all down one by one (more or slight by chance) in his annihilate to survive and to get game to his regiment. You really feel the wo of being a French soldier at that time.
